English Fish & Chips

2 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon vinegar
2 eggs
1/2 cup cornmeal
1/2 cup ice water
4 cups oil
1 1/2 pounds cod
2 potatoes, sliced
4 fluid ounces tartar sauce
4 fluid ounces malt vinegar

In a bowl combine 2 tablespoons oil, salt, flour, vinegar, eggs, cornmeal, and ice water. Stir until smooth and creamy. Heat 4 cups oil to 400 degrees. Roll cod in the batter until well coated. Fry alternately with sliced potatoes until golden brown. Serve with tartar sauce and malt vinegar. Serving Size: 4
